But there is a silver lining: a strong, effective team of industry experts will help neighborhoods recover more quickly by moving real property from weaker hands into stronger hands – the classic stuff of economic recovery.

In interviewing them, we also learned that while the default servicing industry has become exceedingly complex, these firms have worked diligently to develop systems, training, procedures, and policies to keep up with the demands of an ever-changing market. At the end of the day, in getting to know these firms, one of the most important things we learned is that at the true heart of each is a solid commitment to aid the homeowners and you, the owner or seller of a distressed home, in home retention and loss mitigation. We heard often that they see this not as just their job, but as a personal responsibility.
